Industrias Guimina Art Cast Metal Aztec Sun Stone Wall Plaque - This circular relief sculpture depicts the Aztec Sun Stone (Piedra del Sol), commonly known as the Aztec Calendar. The plaque is produced by Industrias Guimina Art in Mexico and is constructed from cast metal, likely a lightweight aluminium alloy, featuring an applied verdigris patina to simulate aged bronze or oxidised copper. The central imagery features the visage of the solar deity Tonatiuh, surrounded by concentric bands of Aztec cosmogonic symbols, day signs, and solar rays, bordered by two fire serpents. The metal plaque is mounted on a circular backing board covered in red velvet. The reverse retains a descriptive paper label in Spanish titled CALENDARIO AZTECA, which provides an iconographic explanation of the stone's symbols. The label is headed with the manufacturer logo for INDUSTRIAS Guimina ART, ARTESANIA MEXICANA. A metal hanging loop is attached to the upper reverse for display. Diameter: 28 cm.
