Two Carved Wooden Goblet Drums in the West African Style - Two hand-carved wooden goblet drums. The first drum is a djembe-style instrument with a dark brown finished shell. The base of the drum is decorated with hand-painted white motifs consisting of dots and celestial star designs. It is fitted with a natural skin head, likely goatskin, which is secured by a black synthetic rope tensioning system. The second drum features a light-toned natural wood shell with a turned bulbous mid-section and a flared base. This drum is fitted with a natural hide head that retains some hair and is secured with white rope cross-lacing. No maker's marks, labels, or serial numbers are visible on either instrument.
