Vintage Professor Alfred Krauth Five Column Mechanical Coin Dispenser - A vintage mechanical five-column coin or change dispenser, manufactured by Professor Alfred Krauth in Eberbach/Baden, Germany. The unit is constructed with a polished metal housing, likely aluminium or steel, featuring a dark brown phenolic top plate. It contains five vertical, translucent plastic internal coin tubes. The top plate is designed with five rectangular apertures for loading coins. On the front, each column is equipped with two spring-loaded metal dispensing levers. The levers are stamped with numerical denominations, arranged from right to left as: 5 and 20; 10 and 30; 50 and 1.50; 1.- and 4.-; and 2.- and 8.-. These denominations likely correspond to Deutschmarks or similar European currency used by transit conductors. The reverse plate is clearly stamped with the manufacturer mark: PROFESSOR ALFRED KRAUTH / EBERBACH/BADEN. Additionally, the backplate features ten recessed adjustment screws corresponding to each dispensing lever, used for calibrating the thickness or quantity of coins dispensed. A small circular aperture is located on the rear left of the casing.
