A Pair of South American Yerba Mate Gourds with White Metal Mounts - A pair of traditional South American yerba mate drinking vessels, crafted from natural dried and hollowed gourds. The larger vessel comprises a polished light tan gourd with an ornate white metal rim featuring chased decorative patterns. It is elevated on a substantial tripod stand with three wide legs decorated with foliated scrollwork, terminating in animal-paw feet and featuring a beaded collar at the base of the gourd. The smaller vessel features a dark mottled brown gourd with a plain white metal rim, supported by a delicate wire-work tripod stand with small scrolled feet. These pieces are characteristic of traditional Argentinian or Uruguayan gaucho metalwork, often constructed from Alpaca (nickel silver) or low-grade silver alloys. No hallmarks, maker's marks, or assay marks are visible on the metal surfaces of either item.
