A Balinese Uang Kepeng Coin Statue of the Goddess Dewi Sri - This traditional Balinese statue, known as an Uang Kepeng or Rambabut figure, is crafted using a technique characteristic of Balinese artisanal production from the 20th century. The body and elaborate tiered headdress are constructed from numerous circular bronze-alloy coins featuring square central holes, traditionally referred to as Chinese cash coins or Indonesian reproductions (pis bolong). These coins are intricately bound together with a network of cream-coloured cord. The figure represents Dewi Sri, the Balinese goddess of rice and fertility, depicted in a standing pose with hands held in the Anjali Mudra devotional gesture. The head, hands, and feet are fashioned from a light-coloured carved material, likely wood or a composite. The statue is mounted on a stepped square base decorated with carved geometric patterns.
