Bidspirit auction | Chinese Bronze Mallow-Lobed Tripod Censer

Chinese Bronze Mallow-Lobed Tripod Censer Bearing a Shi Sou Mark - A Chinese bronze tripod censer of lobed, foliate form, cast with a mallow-flower-shaped body and a flared rim. The vessel is fitted with two upright loop handles and stands on three short, integral feet. The exterior is finished with a dark, mottled brown patina. The underside of the censer features a recessed square seal mark in seal script reading Shi Sou. This mark refers to a celebrated caster from the late Ming dynasty, although it was widely used on later revivalist pieces. The casting quality and surface characteristics of this example are consistent with a late Qing dynasty or early Republic period origin.
