A Pair of Victorian Reverse-Painted slate Panels in a Folding Wooden Frame - A folding wooden diptych frame housing a pair of reverse-painted slate panels. The left panel depicts a gentleman in a brown jacket and light-coloured trousers seated at a circular table on a classical veranda, accompanied by two dogs. The right panel portrays a seated woman in a green evening gown with long gloves reading a book, with the letters C V D inscribed on the spine, accompanied by a large black dog in a domestic interior. The reverse of each glass panel is finished with a dark, matte surface resembling slate, suggesting use as a writing or memo board. The wooden frames are joined by brass hinges and secured with a sliding metal barrel latch. Height: 22.5 cm.
