A Linden and Co Sterling Silver Tobacco pipe Rest - A sterling silver Tobacco holder by the London retailer Linden and Co. The object features an elongated, tapered trough-form receptacle with a flared notched upper end and a rounded bowl, mounted at an ascending angle on a circular pedestal foot. The piece is decorated with a continuous border of heart-shaped leaf motifs around the upper rim and a complementary band of gadrooned foliate decoration around the base. The pedestal base is weighted for stability and is fitted with a blue felt lining on the underside. The side of the pedestal base is engraved with the signature Linden and Co London and is stamped with a 925 fineness mark within a clipped rectangular cartouche, alongside an indistinct secondary mark.
