Bidspirit auction | Victorian Provincial Stained Pine Miniature

Victorian Provincial Stained Pine Miniature Chest of Drawers - A Victorian provincial miniature chest of drawers, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The piece is constructed from pine, which has been treated with a dark stain to simulate a more expensive mahogany or fruitwood finish. The chest features a moulded top over four graduated drawers, each fitted with a pair of turned brass knobs. The uppermost drawer is detailed with a central inset brass keyhole. The internal construction of the drawers is utilitarian, featuring nailed joints rather than dovetails, which is characteristic of provincial or apprentice pieces of this period. The secondary wood used for the drawer linings and the two-panel back is also pine. Width: 33–35 cm (approximately 13–14 inches).
