A Large Folk Art Pique-Assiette Mosaic Memory Jug - A large folk art jug, the tapered body and handle densely decorated in the pique-assiette style, also known as a memory jug. The piece is encrusted with a diverse array of multi-coloured ceramic shards, including fragments of blue and white transferware, polychrome floral patterns, solid-coloured pieces, and a fragment depicting a partial portrait. The lower section features a circumferential band of circular glass cabochons in shades of blue, white, and pale green. The entire mosaic is set into a dark grey cement-like grout. One shard near the base is inscribed with the partial text LAC DE.... The underside consists of a metal base exhibiting significant surface oxidation and rust. In the centre-right area of the base, the numerals 2 and 0 are marked in a dark material. Black felt protective pads are attached to the underside.
