A Set of Antique British Proportional Brass Scale Weights in Fitted Wood Block - A set of graduated brass weights with integral knob handles, housed in a fitted rectangular hardwood storage block. These items are proportional weights designed for use with high-capacity weighing systems, such as a weighbridge or large platform scales, where each weight represents a significantly larger actual mass. The weights are turned and polished brass. The shoulders of the weights are stamped with equivalent capacities including 50 TONS, 20 TONS, 10 TONS, and 50. The sides of the weights bear numerous official British Weights and Measures verification stamps, including VR under a crown for Victoria Regina and GR under a crown for Georgius Rex, alongside abbreviations for hundredweight and various regional verification marks.
