Roy Kirkham Staffordshire Coal Miner Character Jug - A hand-painted ceramic character jug produced by Roy Kirkham Pottery, depicting a coal miner in a kneeling pose. The figure is modelled wearing a grey flat cap, a green shirt, and a black waistcoat over light-coloured trousers. He carries a pickaxe in his right hand and holds a raised lantern in his left hand, resting on a base designed to resemble a rocky outcrop. The handle is fashioned in a curved cream-coloured form extending from the figure's back. The base displays an impressed COAL MINER mark and a circular printed backstamp for Roy Kirkham Pottery, featuring a lion rampant and the text MADE IN STAFFORDSHIRE Hand Painted. There is also a small hand-painted black decorator mark 13 on the underside. Height: approximately 15 cm.
