A Chinese Export Hardwood and Brass-Mounted Jewellery Cabinet with Carved Stone Panels - This Chinese export jewellery cabinet is of rectangular form, constructed from hardwood with a dark reddish-brown stain and varnish finish. The twin-door front opens to reveal three internal drawers lined with red velvet. The exterior is decorated with pierced and carved translucent pale green stone panels featuring floral and foliate motifs, set into the doors and side panels. These panels are secured by ornate pierced brass mounts at the corners and centres. The piece is fitted with a traditional brass pin-locking mechanism and topped with a ruyi-head shaped swing carrying handle. The cabinet stands on four bracket feet reinforced with decorative brass caps. The brass drawer pulls feature simple chased decorations.
