Bidspirit auction | Mid-20th Century Studio Enamel Oval
Mid-20th Century Studio Enamel Oval Decorative Dish - A small decorative oval dish executed in a painterly studio enamel style, dating from the mid-20th century and likely of British or European origin. The interior is decorated with a vibrant abstract composition featuring a palette of cobalt blue, crimson, amber, and golden-yellow colours. The design includes thick, textured applications of white enamel that provide highlights and depth, suggesting a stylized floral or botanical theme. The enamel is fired onto a metal base, likely copper or brass, which is visible at the gilded-tone rim. The reverse is finished with a mottled dark blue counter-enamel. No maker's marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible; two pale irregular marks on the underside are identified as surface residue from former adhesive labels. Length: approximately 7.5 cm.
