A German Patent Bezard Model II Diopter Orientation Compass dated 1928 - A German Patent Bezard diopter orientation compass (Diopter-Orientierungsbussole), identified as Model II and dated 1928. This military-grade surveying instrument features a black-enamelled metal base and a polished nickel or chrome-plated hinged lid. The cream-coloured dial is housed within a brass bezel under a glass crystal and is marked ORIGINAL BEZARD on the central cross-bar. It includes cardinal and ordinal points in German: N (Nord), NO (Nordost), O (Ost), SO (Südost), S (Süd), SW (Südwest), W (West), and NW (Nordwest). The outer scale is graduated in 6400 mils in increments of two, a standard military measurement. The hinged lid is fitted with an internal folding metal mirror and a white celluloid directional arrow. The exterior of the lid is engraved with the word RICHTUNG (Direction) flanked by arrows, positioned above a linear centimetre scale. This lot includes the original brown leather carrying pouch with a metal button-snap closure and cord lanyard, alongside the original illustrated cardboard retail box marked with the model details and the patent holder's name.
