A Stylised 20th Century Carved Figure of Budai - A carved decorative figure of Budai, commonly known as the Laughing Buddha or Hotei, rendered in a minimalist, modernist aesthetic. The figure is depicted with a characteristically joyful facial expression and elongated earlobes. The body is simplified into a rounded, fluid teardrop form with three vertical grooves on the front suggesting the folds of a robe. The piece is crafted from a mottled, honey-coloured material featuring internal swirling, consistent with a variety of soft stone such as alabaster or a phenolic resin.
