Victorian Cast Iron Celtic Cross Pattern Paperweight - A circular cast iron desk or paperweight dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The upper surface is decorated in raised relief with a Celtic cross design. The four recessed segments of the cross and the outer border feature a stippled or textured ground. A central integrated spherical knob serves as a handle for lifting. The item is finished with a dark brown to black aged patina. The underside is covered with a protective purple felt pad to prevent scratching surfaces. Faint cast-in numerals, possibly reading 1805, are visible in one of the textured quadrants of the design.
