A Large Polychrome Painted Venetian Style Figural Blackamoor Candlestick Holder - This polychrome painted figurine is designed as a single candlestick holder in the traditional Venetian Blackamoor style. The figure depicts a young boy seated atop a cylindrical pedestal resting on a square base. The figure is dressed in elaborate attire, comprising a red turban with a white plume, a green sleeved jacket over a yellow waistcoat with embossed scrolling foliate patterns, white breeches with a red sash, and red shoes. The figure holds a single dark toned metal candle nozzle and bobeche aloft on a slender rod. The piece appears to be made from composite, with intricate cast in relief detailing to the waistcoat. The underside of the square base is finished in flat black paint and features four circular protective pads. No maker's marks or signatures are visible on the item. Height: 56 cm.
