1:8 Scale Model of the 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen - This precision-engineered 1:8 scale model of the 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen is attributed to Franklin Mint. The model represents the three-wheeled vehicle widely regarded as the first practical modern automobile. It is constructed from a combination of die-cast metal, wire, and plastic components. The chassis and frame are finished in black-painted metal, and the large wheels feature fine-gauge wire spokes with thin black tyres. The rear-mounted single-cylinder engine is highly detailed, featuring a red-painted block, a horizontal red flywheel with a polished metal rim, a brass-effect cooling tank, and silver-toned fuel system components. The interior features a bench seat with a textured black finish to simulate tufted leather and a floorboard finished with a light brown wood-slat effect. This static display model includes moving parts, such as rotating wheels, a functional steering tiller, and an articulated engine assembly with chain-drive components connecting the engine to the rear axle. Length: 11 inches (28 cm) Height: 7 inches (18 cm).
