A 19th Century Iron-Bound Oak Field Ambulance Water Cask and a Bourne Denby Vitreous Stoneware Jar - This lot comprises two antique utilitarian storage items. The first is a small wooden barrel or costrel of traditional oak stave construction, secured by four iron bands. Known as a field ambulance water or rum cask, it features a central metal bung with a decorative star-shaped finial and sits upon a bespoke wooden trestle stand. The second item is a tall, cylindrical salt-glazed stoneware jar produced by Bourne Denby. The vessel features a tapered neck leading to a rounded, flared rim. An impressed mark at the base reads VITREOUS BOURNE DENBY ENGLAND. Barrel length: 14 inches Barrel height: 12 inches Stoneware jar height: 11 inches.
