A Late 19th Century French Brass Carriage Clock by Richard and Co - A French brass-cased carriage timepiece by the makers Richard and Co (Richard and Cie), Paris. The polished brass case is of Obis design, featuring bevelled glass panels to the front, sides, back, and top, surmounted by a shaped folding loop handle. The white enamel dial is set with black Roman numeral hour markers and a fine outer minute track, with blued steel hands. The mechanical, spring-driven time-only movement is stamped on the backplate with the maker mark R & Co within an oval above MADE IN PARIS. A platform lever escapement is visible through the top glass aperture. The lot includes a double-ended brass winding key and the original fitted, leather-covered outer carrying case with a purple velvet-lined interior. Height: 12 cm (excluding handle).
