A Vintage British Naval Style Brass Boatswain's Call - A vintage naval boatswain's call, commonly referred to as a bosun's whistle, of traditional British maritime design. The piece is constructed from a brass or copper alloy and follows the standard pattern for such instruments. It features a narrow, tapering tube, referred to as the gun, which terminates in a spherical chamber known as the buoy. The gun is decorated with two raised concentric bands. A flat vertical flange, known as the keel, provides structural connection between the gun and the buoy. The keel is pierced with a single hole through which a suspension ring, or shackle, is fitted for attachment to a lanyard. No maker's marks, government broad arrows, or other identifying inscriptions are visible on the external surfaces of the item.
