A Pair of Carved Wood Caricature Soldier Figures Attributed to Ermanno Romer - A pair of mid-20th-century carved wood caricature figures attributed to Ermanno Romer, depicting soldiers in a whimsical folk-art style. Both figures feature expressive, open-mouthed facial expressions and are dressed in long, buttoned greatcoats and peaked caps. They each carry a square backpack with a bedroll carved into the top. The taller soldier holds a long staff, while the shorter soldier holds a slender rod or baton. The figures are carved with integral wooden bases and heavy, chunky boots.
