A Collection of Approximately 40-50 Lace-making Bobbins in a Carved Wooden Box - A collection of approximately 40-50 traditional East Midlands lace-making bobbins crafted from various hardwoods and bone. The assortment features a variety of decorative turnings, with some examples featuring wire-wrapping and others fitted with spangles composed of glass and plastic beads. Specific pieces include a reddish-brown wooden bobbin incised with the name ROSITA and a light-coloured wooden bobbin inscribed with the words First National. The collection also includes spangles with alphabet beads showing the letters A, L, and P. The bobbins are housed in a rectangular wooden storage box featuring hand-carved floral and foliate patterns to the exterior and a red velvet-style fabric lining to the interior.
