A Victorian Tortoiseshell and Metal Inlaid Card Case - A Victorian tortoiseshell card case of rectangular form featuring inlaid metal stringing. The case is constructed with a hinged lid and a side-mounted metal push-button release mechanism. The exterior panels exhibit the natural mottled patterns characteristic of tortoiseshell, bordered by twin vertical bands of inlaid metal stringing to both the front and back surfaces. The interior comprises a bone frame with two compartments lined in a crimson coloured textile. The metal stringing is flush-set into the polished tortoiseshell panels. No maker's marks, hallmarks or inscriptions are present on the item. Height: 9 cm.
