An Earthenware Johnson Bros King Edward VIII Coronation Ashtray - An earthenware ashtray of square form with rounded corners and four integrated cigarette rests, finished in a pale pink glaze. The central circular well features a white bas-relief profile portrait of King Edward VIII facing left, depicted wearing a crown and military uniform. The border of the well is decorated with impressed capitalised lettering reading EDWARD VIII, CORONATION, 1937, and KING. The underside bears a printed black backstamp comprising a crown symbol above the text Johnson Bros. England, and an impressed mark above the foot rim reads PATENT APPLIED FOR.
