A Victorian Gilt Blue Cloth Scrap Album, circa 1882 - A Victorian gilt blue cloth scrap album featuring a decorative front cover with embossed floral and avian motifs. The word SCRAPS is displayed in large stylized lettering across a diagonal band. The interior contains numerous pages densely populated with chromolithograph scraps, including botanical illustrations of roses, violets and chrysanthemums, ornithological scenes featuring robins in snow, and various international flags including those of Sweden, Greece, Chile and the Dominican Republic. A military illustration titled TEL-EL-KEBIR—TOTAL ROUTE OF ARABI'S ARMY provides historical context relating to the Anglo-Egyptian war of 1882. The album further includes domestic genre scenes, depictions of children on a beach, and assorted decorative vignettes. The pages are constructed from heavy paper, housing a substantial collection of nineteenth-century colour printing. Width: 24 cm.
