A Collection of Four Burl Wood and Lacquer Jewellery Chests - A collection of four vintage decorative jewellery and storage chests comprising various materials and construction. The first is a large multi-tier jewellery chest finished in highly figured burl wood veneers over a wooden carcass. It features traditional Chinese brass hardware, including a large central cloud-shaped lock plate and a stylised handle for the lower drawer. The hinged lid opens to reveal a mirrored interior and a rose velvet-lined upper tray with ring rolls and six open compartments. The second piece is a footed black lacquer jewellery box, the lid decorated with nacre inlay depicting bamboo stalks and leaves. It stands on four bracket feet and contains a red corduroy-textured fabric interior with a mirror and divided tray, finished with Silver hardware. The third is a smaller black lacquer jewellery box featuring a hand-painted Japanese landscape scene with Mount Fuji and sailboats, fitted with a Silver latch. The fourth is a rectangular black lacquer storage box decorated with Gold motifs resembling stylised pine needles or fans. Width: 33 cm Width: 30.5 cm Width: 17.8 cm.
