Bidspirit auction | A Jade Figure Of A

A Jade Figure Of A Lady In The Archaic Style - A Jade ornamental carving of curved, tapered form, terminating in a rounded point. The upper section is worked in openwork to depict a female figure, likely an immortal or court lady, with a high topknot hairstyle and serene facial features. She is dressed in flowing robes with incised geometric and scrollwork details. The stone is of an opaque, creamy white body colour with significant areas of orange-brown russet skin at the terminal and upper section. Four circular, straight-drilled holes are positioned vertically through the body of the object, possibly for attachment or suspension. The carving is executed in a simplified, flattened manner with a matte, slightly granular surface texture.
