A full-time professional artist since 1962, he is a sought-after portrait and fine art photographer, winning numerous accolades and awards over the decades. For almost 50 years Richard created moving portraits of people from all walks of life, from social commentary to families to political figures. He often lectured on photographic technique and served as a print judge.

"Thunderstorm" an iconic silver photograph from Yosemite Valley by listed photographer Ansel Adams and printed by Alan Ross off of the original negative. Ansel Adams was an American photographer who was born in 1902 and passed in 1984. His work is currently being shown at multiple venues like ARTER in Istanbul and will be on exhibit at Cincinnati Art Museum on September 27, 2024. Numerous key galleries and museums such as de Young Museum and FAMSF have featured Ansel Adams's work in the past. Alan Ross is an internationally respected master photographer and educator who worked side-by-side with Ansel Adams as his photographic assistant. He knows Adams's approach and technique perhaps better than any other photographer today. This photograph measures without frame 7.5'' H x 9.5'' W.
