McCoy, evolved from a family-run business to a major player in the American pottery industry, ultimately closing in 1990. The company, known for its functional stoneware and later art pottery, experienced several ownership changes and name alterations, including the Nelson McCoy Pottery Co. in 1933. Key milestones include the merger with Brush Pottery in 1911, forming Brush-McCoy Pottery. The company also faced challenges, including a major fire in 1950. Despite changing hands and facing economic shifts, McCoy Pottery remained a popular and recognizable name for its quality and unique designs, particularly its art pottery lines.
