PAUL DAHLQUIST, ”DARCELLE” - ”Darcelle”, an original silver gelatin photograph by listed photographer, Paul Dahlquist. Signed lower left and professionally matted on foam core, measuring, 10'' H x 13'' W. Paul Dahlquist received his MFA in painting and drawing. When he was asked to teach a photography class he realized he had found his medium. He retired from teaching in his late 50s to work full-time as a photographer. His work has been exhibited extensively both regionally and nationally and he has been an instructor and mentor for several generations of Northwest photographers. Darcelle XV, born Walter W. Cole on November 16, 1930, was a beloved drag queen and entertainer in Portland, Oregon. With a career spanning over 50 years, Darcelle brought joy and inspiration to countless people. Guinness World Records recognized her as the oldest drag queen performer on the West Coast.
