1923 PEACE DOLLAR - This lot features a 1923 Peace dollar, kept in a protective case. A Peace Dollar is a United States dollar coin that was first minted in 1921 to commemorate the end of World War I and symbolize a hoped-for era of peace. It was designed by Anthony de Francisci and features Liberty on the obverse and an eagle at rest holding an olive branch on the reverse. The Peace Dollar was the last silver dollar struck for circulation in the United States until the Eisenhower dollar in 1971.
