WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT, ”THE AMERICAN POETS: BRYANT” - TYMOR FARM - This lot features a vintage edition of ”The American Poets: Bryant by The Heritage Press with the original slipcase. From the Tymor Farm collection, stamped as shown in photos. From the collection of Jean Webster who was a niece of Mark Twain and her father was Mark Twain's publisher. She graduated from Vassar College in 1901. Jean and Ralph Connor, the daughter and son in law, inherited Tymor Farm and in 1971 donated five hundred acres of land to the people of Union Vale to be used as a park and recreation center. William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878) was a prominent American poet and journalist. He is best known for his nature poetry, particularly ”Thanatopsis”, and for his long tenure as editor of the New York Evening Post. Bryant's work often reflected his deep appreciation for the natural world and his commitment to democratic principles and social reform.
