WALT WHITMAN, ”LEAVES OF GRASS” - TYMOR FARM - ”Leaves of Grass”, a special edition by The Heritage Press with book sleeve by author, Walt Whitman. From the Tymor Farm collection, stamped and originally belonging to Ralph Connor as shown in photos. From the collection of Jean Webster who was a niece of Mark Twain and her father was Mark Twain's publisher. She graduated from Vassar College in 1901. Jean and Ralph Connor, the daughter and son in law, inherited Tymor Farm and in 1971 donated five hundred acres of land to the people of Union Vale to be used as a park and recreation center. Walt Whitman, born in 1819, was an American poet, essayist, and journalist known for his groundbreaking work ”Leaves of Grass” and his contributions to the development of free verse poetry. He explored themes of democracy, nature, the human body, and spirituality, often celebrating the individual and the common man.
