Milne, born in London in 1882, was an English author best known for his children's books featuring Winnie-the-Pooh. He was also a successful playwright and essayist, but is often remembered for the Pooh stories, which were inspired by his son, Christopher Robin, and his toys. Milne served in the British Army during World War I before becoming a professional playwright. He died in 1956.
