A daguerreotype is a unique, highly detailed, and reflective photographic image created on a silver-plated copper sheet. It was the first publicly available photographic process, invented by Louis Daguerre. The process involves exposing a sensitized plate to light in a camera, then developing the image with mercury vapor, and finally fixing it.
