DELFT POTTERY COLLECTION - This lot features a large collection of Delft pottery, or Delftware including ginger pots, clocks, and much more. All appear to be in very good condition. Delft pottery, or Delftware, originated in the Netherlands around 1600 as Dutch artisans tried to imitate Chinese porcelain, a process that intensified around 1620 when trade with China was interrupted. Dutch potters used local clay and a tin glaze to create a white, porcelain-like surface, painting it with designs that evolved from Chinese motifs to include European scenes like windmills and tulips.
