KANTELETAR, LIMITED EDITION BOOK - This lot features a rare edition of Kanteletar, limited to just 300 copies. This book is edition 147/300, leather bound, and includes images marked and signed by the author, circa 1940. This edition was printed at F. Tilgmann's Book and Lithography Press in Helsinki. Kanteletar is a 1840 collection of Finnish folk poetry compiled by Elias Lönnrot, serving as a companion to the national epic Kalevala. The book contains nearly 700 lyrical poems and ballads based on oral tradition, covering themes of love, loss, and everyday life in rural Finland. It is written in the ”Kalevala metre” and has been translated into English by various scholars.
