CHINESE HARD STONE PIXIU - This lot features a beautiful ochre, copper, and viridescent example of a Chinese Pixiu. The creature is depicted with mouth agape, and standing in a fighting stance, his tail twitches behind him frozen in time. Pixiu is a Chinese mythical hybrid creature. Pixiu are considered powerful protectors of the souls of the dead, and resemble strong, winged lions. This sculpture of a Pixiu measures, 7'' H x 3'' W x 9'' D.
