Jug with Bird Decoration Ansbach, circa 1770 Pear-shaped body with a scroll handle, a console spout with mascaron, and a cover surmounted by a sculptural fruit finial. Beneath the handle are two native songbirds perched on a branch, the remaining surface decorated with scattered purple flowers and polychrome depictions of native songbirds and waterfowl. Porcelain with polychrome decoration and gilt embellishment. Underglaze blue factory mark ''A'' on the underside. Height 17.5 cm. - Minor chip to the rim of the mouth and cover; leaf on the finial chipped.
