Cardboard upper right with a small superficial incision and at the lower left corner with a small bruise in the rebate area. Paint layer with isolated stroke-like retouches and tiny inconspicuous imperfections in the lower part of the painting. Rebate area slightly rubbed. Frame partially overpainted, with isolated imperfections. Stucco elements in the miter joint areas with cracks. Dimensions: 21.6 x 27.8 cm, frame 31 x 37 cm. Belonged to the circle around Joseph Anton Koch in Rome. From 1832 teacher at the Weimar Drawing School. 1847 honorary member of the Dresden Academy. 1858–61 second trip to Italy/Rome as inspiration for the execution (1863–64) of the Odyssey cycle for the New Museum Weimar. 1869 member of the Berlin Academy. 1869 and 1875 further trips to Italy.
