Signed and dated ”D. Schuhfried. 72.” lower right. In a gilded ornamental frame with laurel and frieze ornamentation. Canvas center right with pressure mark on the reverse, here recto spiral crack and flaking. Paint layer throughout with craquelure. The rebate area with light traces and imperfections. Ornamental frame significantly damaged, with numerous imperfections. Top and bottom sides covered by approx. 2.5 cm by the sightline. Dimensions: 50.1 x 63.1 cm, frame 82 x 97.1 cm. Dominik Schuhfried 1810 Vienna – around 1890 same location Son of the Austrian painter Jakob Schuhfried. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Participated in exhibitions at the Austrian Art Association and the Academy Exhibition St. Anna. Specialized in landscape depictions with motifs from Gutenstein and the March region, among others.
