Margarete von Baczko - Margarete von Baczko, Landscape near Weimar (?). Probably around 1900.. Margarete von Baczko 1842 Görlitz – 1924 Berlin Oil on cardboard. Monogrammed ”MvB” lower left. Verso upper left in pencil probably signed ”M. v. Baczko”, below inscribed ”L. Klinger” (?). In a wide Neo-Renaissance stucco frame with gold-colored leaf metal overlay. The edges of the support with lesions, upper left corner with creasing. Paint layer in the rebate area yellowed, rubbed and lower right with a frame-related discoloration. Frame scuffed, color overpainted and with open mitre joints. Dimensions: 25.5 x 44.5 cm, Frame: 56.5 x 66 cm. Margarete von Baczko 1842 Görlitz – 1924 Berlin Student of Max Schmidt at the Weimar Academy. Primarily painted nature and landscape depictions, often showing views from the Harz Mountains, the Alps, and the Pomeranian coast. Participated in the annual art exhibition of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden in 1877. Participated in collective exhibitions at the Museum of Art and Applied Arts in Weimar in 1905 and 1916.
