Verso with a label, inscribed ”103 Berndt” and on the canvas lower left faintly legible inscribed ”Berndt […]” (?). Framed in a black shadow gap frame. Rare work by the artist in the New Objectivity style. Illustrated and briefly discussed in: Andreas Albert: Siegfried Berndt – Ein Dresdner Meister des Farbholzschnittes. Husum 2013, pp. 48f. The work has not been unframed. Support with small lesions at the edges. Small scratch lower center in the table and upper center in the sheet music. Smaller, partly slightly color-deviating retouches, especially in the left and right marginal areas. Vertical, inconspicuous age craquelure with isolated tiny paint flakes. Frame rubbed. Studied from 1899–1906 at the Dresden Art Academy and was one of Eugen Bracht's master students. Received the Grand Prize of the Academy in 1906. Study trips 1907/08 to Paris, Scotland, and Belgium.
