Signed and dated ”Sten Ekelund 1939” lower right. Typographically inscribed on the stretcher verso. Framed in a white, partly gold-painted strip. Support slightly wavy. Paint layer in the area of the signature with cracks. Punctual losses of the paint layer. A small hole in the middle right, streaks left. Frame bumped, rubbed and with partially open miter joints. Dimensions: 50.5 x 45.2 cm, frame 62 x 57.5 cm. Sten Magnus Robert Ekelund 1908 Malmö – 1988 ? Son of John Gottfrid Ekelund and Annie Jönsson, married to Greta Fröhlich from 1940–1945. Studied at Makerschule Malmö. From 1930–1033 as a private student of Jonas Akesson at the Danish Art Academy, Copenhagen. 1938 visited Edward Berggren's painting school, Stockholm.
