Signed lower right ”R. Höckner”. Framed in a gold-colored frame. On the back of the frame, inscribed by the artist and labeled ”formerly in Weimar”. The edges of the support are slightly uneven, with light discoloration. Dimensions: 10.2 x 14.9 cm, Frame 14 x 18.3 cm. There he completed his Abitur in 1885. He then began studying theology, which he abandoned, and from 1886 attended the Grand Ducal Saxon School of Art in Weimar. In 1890, he completed his studies with a diploma. He undertook several study trips and settled as a freelance artist in Weimar from 1891.
