Hans Kinder - Hans Kinder ”Portrait of Thomas Salm”. 1930.. Hans Kinder 1900 Dresden – 1986 ibid. Tempera on plywood. Monogrammed with ligated initials ”HK” lower right. On the reverse, with a dedication in the artist's own hand ”TO OUR DEAR THOMAS – 31.8.80 – Hans”. Framed in what is probably the original white artist's molding. Catalogue Raisonné Ryssel (unpublished) RY 1832. The painting was photographically documented in 1985 ”in the estate” of the artist, who died in Dresden in January 1986. The microfiche, on which the dating is also noted, is preserved in the Deutsche Fotothek, dataset 70233883, with differing dimensions there: 45 x 35 cm. Support noticeably wavy, a tear lower left, the lower left corner on the reverse with material loss, vertically running drying cracks. Paint layer insignificantly soiled and slightly stained. Frame with signs of wear and open mitre joints. Dimensions: 37.5 x 31.5 cm, Frame 48 x 42.5 cm. Hans Kinder 1900 Dresden – 1986 ibid. 1916–17 studied at the Dresden School of Applied Arts, 1917–20 soldier and hospital stay. 1925–32 studied at the Dresden Art Academy, master student of Max Feldbauer. 1932 member of the Dresden Secession, freelance artist in Dresden from 1945, met Picasso. 1968 first personal meeting with Marcel Marceau, beginning of systematic work on the Marcel Marceau cycle. Works represented in collections including: Nationalgalerie Berlin, Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig, Staatl. Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Gemäldegalerie Neue Meister and Kupferstichkabinett).
