In a wide Louis XV ornamental frame. From the series ”The Four Times of Day”, created after the artist moved to Schluchsee / Black Forest in 1942. Large-area professional retouching in the sky in the area of the large pink cloud upper center, as well as other small ones on the picture surface and isolated ones in the rebate area. Mitre joints of the frame subsequently glued, resulting in isolated cracks, overall slightly warped. Dimensions: 50 x 60 cm, Frame 68.5 x 79 cm. Willy Kriegel 1901 Dresden – 1966 Starnberg 1915–23 apprenticeship as a pattern designer, then began studying painting at the Dresden Art Academy, among others with Ferdinand Dorsch, Otto Gussmann and Otto Hettner. Master student of Oskar Kokoschka. 1923/24 and 1938 study trips to Italy. From 1928 solo exhibitions in Berlin, Dresden, Zittau and Chemnitz. 1928–34 stay in Mallorca. 1931 Dürer Prize of the city of Nuremberg, 1936 participation in the Venice Biennale. 1937 gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition, simultaneously defamed by the Nazis as ”degenerate”. 1942 moved to Schluchsee/Black Forest, 1953 moved to Feldafing/Bavaria. From 1964 teaching activity in Cologne. Works represented, among others, in: Lindenau-Museum Altenburg, Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, Städt. Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Städt. Kunstsammlungen Freital and Städt. Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz.
