Verso titled over a white primer, signed again, and with a deleted inscription by the artist's hand. Framed in a dark brown, partly gold-finished strip. Support slightly warped. Scattered small nail holes in the edge areas. Bump on the lower edge (2 cm). Paint layer with a dull retouch above the bread, punctual retouches in the jacket sleeve. Rabbet area rubbed and punctually retouched. Frame with minimal lesions. Dimensions: 46 x 54 cm, frame 58 x 66 cm. Georg Siebert 1896 Dresden – 1984 Cologne 1910–13 apprenticeship in the studio for textile art in Dresden. 1913–16 studied at the Royal School of Applied Arts Dresden, 1916 Bronze Medal. 1916–18 military service. 1919–21 studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Richard Müller, first awards. 1921–23 scholarship from a Dresden patron, studied at the Munich Art Academy with Ludwig von Herterich and Max Doerner. 1924–26 returned to the Dresden Art Academy. 1925 member of the Dresden Artists' Cooperative. 1925/26 degree completion with ”certificate of honor” and jubilee scholarship from the city of Dresden. Collaboration in the studio of André Lhote in Paris.1927–31 resident in Dresden. Member of the German Artists' Association and the Dresden Secession. 1930 ”Ilgen” Prize. 1932 study trip to Switzerland. From 1933 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. 1937 ”Diplome d'honneur” of the Paris World Exhibition. 1938 participated in the Venice Biennale. 1939–1940 military service. From 1942 professorship at the Dresden Art Academy. 1945 moved to Obervogelgesang, 1961 to Karlsruhe. Resident in Cologne since 1964. 1971 exhibition in Düsseldorf for his 75th birthday.
